The Brigantine Farmers Market

One of the key missions of our farmers market is to help stimulate growth of brick and mortar businesses in Brigantine. Many Brigantine restaurants sell their food items each week at the market including Ernest and Sons and Bella Luna. We also invite a local business that may not typically fit the definition of a market vendor to exhibit and sell their items. Participants have included The Links, North Point Marina and Rip Tide Bait and Tackle. This week it will be our local branch of TD Bank. At the market last week we learned that 70 percent of attendees surveyed in our question of the day have been prompted to visit other Brigantine businesses and restaurants as a result of attending the market.

The theme for the July 18 market is Brigantine heroes. Adults can participate in a superhero trivia quiz from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. The library will offer face painting for kids to coincide with their summer reading program “Every hero has a story” from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. DJ Jack Fahey of Above and Beyond will be spinning the tunes.

Who is your hero? Submit an unframed photo, no larger than 8.5 x 11, by 9:30 a.m. for voting by market guests. The winner will be announced at 11. Congratulations to Andrea Maurio who won a $25 gift certificate in last week’s photo contest for her shot of Nalu the Pirate Pup. Jessica Repici also won a gift certificate in the Arghh video contest for her video of her little buccaneer in training. Anna Giacomo Barretta was the winner of the Facebook contest.

Our chef of the day will be Olivia Bellano, known as Chef Belle from Kitchen 19 Catering/cooking lessons/events in Hammonton. Chef Belle will demonstrate at 10:30 a.m. in the Chef’s tent.

Keep a lookout for these upcoming contests and the chance to win great gift certificates this season.

August 1 - "FACE IT" – A carrot nose? Pepper ears? We want to see the best creation of a face made from fruits and vegetables.

August 8 - NJ Peach Pie contest - The winner goes on to compete in the state finals.

The Brigantine Farmers Market is open rain or shine on Saturdays through September 5 and again October 10 from 8:30 to noon at 15th Street and Revere Boulevard next to City Hall. Bring your reusable shopping bags and water bottles.

Please leave your four legged pals at home for their safety and comfort as well as that of other market guests and remember that we are a non-smoking venue.
