New beach tag and 4x4 permit office hours

The Beach Tag Office, accessed through the Main Lobby of the Brigantine Community Center, will be open 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday through Monday through April 30; closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Beach plum planting

The Green Team will host a native beach plum planting event 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9. Volunteers are need to help plant 100 beach plum seedlings. The Green Team and volunteers will meet on the beach at Bay Court. Street Parking is on Lagoon Road. Rain date is Dec. 10.

Atlantic County Library System/Brigantine will host a monthly book club for adults 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12. Join the group for lively and engaging conversations. De-stress yourself

Atlantic County Library System/Brigantine will hold a free craft activity for teens and adults 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13. Come de-stress by coloring and make new friends. The branch supplies colored pencils, markers and coloring pages.

Holiday Storytime with Grandfather Joe

The Brigantine branch of the Atlantic County Library System will offer storytime with local folk musician Grandfather Joe 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15. Grandfather Joe and Miss Bonnie will spin holiday stories, sing songs and interact with puppets. Registration is requested.

Ugly Sweater Party and Cookie Exchange

The Brigantine branch of the Atlantic County Library will hold a cookie exchange and ugly sweater party 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21 for all ages.  Wear your ugliest sweater and celebrate the holidays with a cookie exchange, punch and social time. Bring 12 copies of your recipe, along with four dozen cookies — one dozen to taste, plus three dozen to divide and take home. Cookie tins will be provided. Registration is requested. Heroes Among Us: 'Hidden Figures'

The Brigantine branch of the Atlantic County Library System will will show a movie for adults 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21 as part of the ACLS Reads program. The film is "Hidden Figures," the story of a group of black female mathematicians at NASA. Pizza and drinks will be provided. Registration is requested. Advise staff of any food allergies. Trip to Puglia and Rome

Brigantine CER is sponsoring a 10-day trip to Puglia and Rome April 8-17. Participants can expect to see Romanesque and baroque cathedrals and monuments, and in Rome, an open air museum that is home to two millennia of architecture, art and culture; and spend hours exploring ancient wonders, traveling between attractions or hunting for the best gelato. Trip to Chicago

Brigantine CER is sponsoring a seven-day trip trip to Chicago June 16-22. On the way participants will visit the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pa., and lunch at historic Sauder Village in Archbold, Ohio. In Chicago there will be a guided tour to include Millennium Park, Grant Park, Navy Pier and more, and visit the Art Institute of Chicago, Wrigley Field, take a narrated Chicago River Cruise and a visit Shed Aquarium. The return trip will feature a campus tour of the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, and a sightseeing cruise aboard the Gateway Clipper in Pittsburgh. Seashore Purls Knitters

Seashore Purls invites all knitters and crocheters to weekly meetings 6:30 - 8 p.m. every Thursday at the Brigantine Community Center. Beginners welcome. They have large supply of donated yarn for use in making hats, lap and baby blankets for donating to various places in need.

Weight Watcher Meetings are held every Tuesday morning starting with weigh-in at 9:30 a.m. followed by a meeting at 10 a.m. Come in and learn how to successfully lose weight by following a customized food and activity plan to help you look and feel better and have more energy. Thrift shop open

The thrift shop of the Community Presbyterian Church, 1501 W. Brigantine Ave., is open 5-8 p.m. Wednesdays, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursdays and 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays. Shop for bargains on gently used clothing for men, women and children, as well as shoes, small appliances, household items and jewelry. New items are received daily. Treadmilling for walkers

The Running Center is partnering with the Brigantine Fitness Center to present a fitness class for active adults. Treadmilling for Walkers is offered noon Mondays and Wednesdays at the Brigantine Fitness Center. The class is led by Mindy Solkin, owner and head coach of The Running Center. She created the class to give seniors a full-body workout. The one-hour classes are open to members and nonmembers of the fitness center.
