The Brigantine Garden Club donated geraniums to Maria DiDomenico's science classes. Some students used the geraniums for their science fair projects.
Sixth-grader Chase Schreiber's project, titled "No Gravity Greenery," explored how gravity affects the way a plant grows.
Seventh-graders Piper Bereheiko and Naomi Green used red, blue, green and clear cellophane in "Undercover Greenery" to determine if plant development and growth would be affected by different colored lights.
We are so proud of these students and happy to see their interest in horticulture. Our middle school students are our future gardeners of America.
"Happy Valentine's Day to all my friends and family. Remember, it's not just for couples, it's to celebrate love in all forms. Love is all around you."
To all who enjoy the love of digging in the dirt, watching a flower grow and develop, and sharing the beauty with others, I wish you a happy day.
The club is currently on hiatus as our bedtenders stay home and wait for spring and gardening catalogs to arrive. In the meantime, activities of interest are still occurring, such as the science fair and the trip to the Philadelphia Flower Show (call CER for more info.).
Visit us on Facebook for photos and tips. It is only another month until we start our monthly meetings. We meet the first Monday of each month at the Community Center. Socializing and snacks begin at 6:30; the meetings start promptly at 7.
Have you been thinking about joining the camaraderie? There are never any dues, and refreshments are served. We are always looking for new members. You do NOT have to tend a bed to be a member; there are plenty of other activities in which you can participate.
One of the most popular events of the summer is the annual Secret Garden Tour. If you are interested in showcasing your yard in this activity, call 609-266-3685 and give us your name, phone number and address. Someone will contact you when the weather gets warmer. We are looking for two members to co-chair this event. Please consider helping us out with this.
If you are interested in purchasing a leaf for our memorial tree, applications are available in the library. Send with $50 to P.O. Box 53, Brigantine, NJ 08203. Email questions to firstname.lastname@example.org.
It's a wonderful life here in Brigantine. Brigantine rocks!
