Go to the Brigantine Community Center to see our entry in the second annual Scarecrow Competition. Keeping with the theme of our butterfly initiative, we have a beautiful butterfly lady scarecrow. Be sure to pick up a ballot and cast your vote for our lovely and original lady. Thanks.

Johanne Milnes let a butterfly fly free from her safe cage while I was visiting her. What a beautiful sight! Safe trip, butterfly.

Now that we have stopped meeting until 2018, this would be a good time for some well deserved thank yous. I always try to include the bed tenders and committee chairmen plus workers when I make thank yous. There are a few, however, that rarely get mentioned.

Thanks to Donna Cowhey (this year's President's Cup winner) for setting up and maintaining our AOL email page, brigantinegardenclub@aol.com.

Thanks to Doretta Lupinacci for answering the phone's voicemail until that task was taken over by yours truly, 609-266-3685.

Thanks to Linda Mantello, Gina Bergin, and Julie Watkins for monitoring the Brigantine Garden Club facebook page.

Thanks to Gina Bergin for being the club photographer this summer. Also thanks to those who snapped photos when occasionally Gina was not available.

Thanks to Judy Harding for tending to Club correspondence and Sunshine.

Thanks to Judy Harding and Peg Moore for overseeing the memorial tree fund. P.O. Box 53, Brigantine, NJ.

Thanks to Peg Moore for purchasing snacks for the tables.

Thanks to City Liaison Debi Ples.

Thanks to North and South End Bed Tender Coordinators, Phyllis Glomb and Fran Streeper.

I probably missed somebody, so if it was you or someone you know, please call our Voicemail and yell at me so I can put it in next week.

The Board will be meeting 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, at 100 Sheridan Square. All members are welcome to attend.

Let's talk about pumpkins: What did one jack-o-lantern say to another? Cut it out. What is a pumpkin's favorite sport? Squash. How do you repair a broken Jack-o-lantern? Buy a pumpkin patch. -- NJSeniorCare.com

Seriously, did you know this about Pumpkins? 1. Have lots of Vitamin A and Carotenoids. 2. Good for Cholesterol and Heart Health. 3. Great source of fiber. 4. Good source of zinc. 5.
