CAPE MAY — Fake news has struck this Victorian resort.

An article that's been circulating online this week claims a man has been arrested and charged with four homicides in the murder of his wife and three children.

The police addressed the report Thursday, June 8.

"Please be advised that the news story being circulated about multiple homicides in Cape May is fictitious," the department said in a public notice. "We have received multiple phone calls in reference to this article, so please do not be alarmed."

The website that posted the article,, has published a number of similar articles — sometimes just replacing the town and county while keeping the name of the "suspect."
