LOWER TOWNSHIP — An Erma man was charged with distribution of drugs in a school zone after a motor vehicle stop on Seashore Road in the area of Cox Lane, the Lower Township Police Department said.

Lower Township police stopped a vehicle operated by John Bersani of the township's Erma section at about 5 p.m. Jan. 4. Subsequent to a warrant arrest, an undisclosed quantity of marijuana was found, along with a small scale and a safe, police said.

The vehicle was towed to the Lower Township Police Department, where a search warrant was executed Jan. 8. Police said they opened the safe and find two pounds of marijuana inside, along with another scale and packaging material.

Bersani was charged with possession of marijuana over 50 grams, possession with intent to distribute, possession with intent to distribute in a school zone, possession of drug paraphernalia and a disorderly persons offense.
