The New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry has launched an online campground reservation system as part of the Department of Environmental Protection's effort to improve customer service, said Commissioner Bob Martin.
The reservations system at camping.nj.gov provides search capabilities for finding and reserving tent sites, cabins or shelters in the New Jersey State Park System, and is part of a move by the DEP to take advantage of the interactivity offered by today’s technology, according to a press release.
“This new reservation system will make it easier than ever to plan an affordable weekend getaway or vacation at our great state parks, forests and recreation areas to create memories that will last a lifetime,” Martin said.

The system went live earlier this month and provides updated maps and park information filters that allow users to check site availability and plan visits around amenities and recreational opportunities available at each park, Martin said.
Other features of NJ Outdoors include the ability to update or cancel a campground reservation; a list of discounts available at state parks; document uploads for pet licenses and vaccinations documents for pet-friendly campsites; and real-time notification alerts of events that could affect a stay or upcoming reservations.
