WILDWOOD -- Coastal Broadcasting Systems, Inc. in Wildwood, NJ announced
today that it’s adding a greater news presence at the Jersey Shore by adding two
experienced veterans to its news broadcasting team.
Coastal Broadcasting Systems General Manager Bob Maschio announced that local television and radio broadcasting personality Phil Pizzi will be anchoring the afternoon newscasts on both WCZT 98.7 the Coast and WILW, 94.3. And, Denis
Brown has been also added to the news team to anchor morning newscasts on both radio stations as well.
“We’re extremely pleased to welcome Phil and Denis to our Coastal Broadcasting family,” Maschio said. “The radio stations have been able to be the radio market leader with covering local news, and that effort will get even better and more comprehensive thanks to the expansion.”
WCZT and WILW offer local news updates every hour, Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. The radio stations also provide breaking news, storm coverage, and school closings, when needed.
News Director Scott Wahl has been delivering local news on the radio for 22 years in the market, and will still manage the news and Internet operations at the company, but will step back from morning anchoring duties to take on more administrative roles at the company.
“I am very excited about this opportunity for Coastal Broadcasting,” Wahl said. “Phil and Denis bring a passion and energy to local news, and will create the most experienced, credible broadcast news department in Cape May County’s radio history.”
Brown has worked as on-air talent and producer in radio markets in Atlantic City and Princeton; he also covered University of Miami sports, and was a freelance journalist with the Asbury Park Press.
Pizzi is very well known in the Cape May County market for hosting, anchoring and producing various entertainment and news programs for cable television, and on radio. Both Pizzi and Brown reside in Cape May County.
Coastal Broadcasting Plaza is located on Pacific Avenue in Wildwood.
