But one thing that hasn’t changed is his chef, Jack Lin, who has worked for him since 1996 at a former establishment. Fung arrived in the United States when he was a young boy. He and his two brothers attended school in Margate, where Fung and his brother, Vincent, were both given American names by the principal. The three brothers went on to attend Atlantic City High School. Fung’s older brother, Fai, managed to keep his Chinese name, so the restaurant is named after him. Fung learned the restaurant business working for his brother Fai, who had restaurants in Avalon and Sea Isle City. That brother is now his partner and also works as a consultant for Asian restaurants and markets. His younger brother is an engineer in Chicago. Fung, his brother Fai and Al Luciani are also partners in a restaurant in Seaville. The Fung’s parents worked for the Trump Organization and Lily Langtry’s when it first opened. His mother is now retired, and his father passed away last year. Fung and his wife, Maureen, have two sons, Tyler, 10, and Darren, 9. Both the lunch and dinner menus at Fai’s offer a wide variety of traditional Asian favorites as well as house specialties. The hot and spicy dishes can be tempered to customers’ tastes. Lunch offerings include a Lite Menu with leaner steamed dishes and white rice. Even so, Fung said that if customers don’t see exactly what they want, they can just ask and he will be happy to accommodate them if he can.
