On the Abbey road
Marilyn and Paul Blankman, left, of Margate and Kathy and Myron
Bernstein of Longport recently sailed the Danube Maine and Rhine
rivers from Budapest to Amsterdam. They visited the city of Melk,
Austria, where they visited the Abbey, in the background. The
900-year-old building was initially the residence of the ruling
Babenberg family and became a Benedictine monastery in 1089. |

Willkommen in Melk
Marilyn and Paul Blankman and Myron and Kathy Bernstein of Longport
took a recent riverboat cruise on the Danube River, stopping here in
the city of Melk, Austria.

Cruising the Danube
Ellen and Richard Kawich of Egg Harbor Township vacationed on a
14-day Danube River cruise July 14-28. They visited Prague, Linz,
Vienna, Bratislava, Esxtergon and Budapest. They are pictured here

Alpine tour
Three local couples recently completed a tour
of Austria, Italy and Switzerland, where they snapped this picture
atop Mount Pilatus in Lucerne. Standing from left are Jon and

Janice Myers of
Egg Harbor Township and Harriett Reardon Bailey of Ocean View took
the Gazette to Vienna where they spent a week in January touring the
city. They are shown in front of the Hofburg Imperial Palace where
they toured the Royal Apartments, the Museum of Court Silver and
Tableware and the Imperial Treasury. They also visited Schonbrunn
Palace (the Hapsburgs summer residence), attended the Vienna
Symphony and a performance of Falstaff at the Vienna State Opera
House.

Absecon to Austria
Joan Searfoss of
Absecon enjoyed a visit to Austria with her son
Bryan, daughter Nancy, and mother Frances Mahaffey.
Taking the picture, while they were visiting the
city of Klosterneuburg, was Joan's sister, Terri,
who lives in Austria and works at the American
International School in Vienna.
