Bruce and Joanne Jackson and Betsy and Denny Tomlinson
celebrate their 50th anniversary aboard the Caribbean
Princess. The Tomlinson’s have resided in Wildwood Crest for
52 years. The Jacksons live in Northfield, however, Joanne
is a native of North Wildwood.

Galloway Township enjoyed a Caribbean Cruise from Cape
Liberty aboard the Explorer of the Seas March 16. The
Russnaks celebrated their 100th cruise. |
Eating, reading and living it up
Michael Hyett, Marta Kripitz, Charlene Polakoff and Jeff
Kripitz enjoy a fabulous day at the pool and beach in St.
Martin during their fun vacation in February. A lot of books
were read, and a lot of goat cheese was consumed by all. |

The Holland American Line – Noordam – provided a pleasurable
cruise to the Caribbean in March for Alisha Vare, recent
graduate of Marshall University, Huntington, West Virginia,
and granddaughter to Eleanor Eason of Ocean City. |

Peggy and Bob Gibson of Osprey Point took the Gazette along
with them March 7 on their Caribbean cruise. They visited
four islands including this one in St. Thomas. |
Pam DiJoesph and Robin Purnell of Chester County and
frequent visitors to Ocean City posed as Kate McDevitt,
resident of Ocean City, took their picture of the Gazette at
the swim up bar at Morritt's in the Grand Cayman Islands.
The Rum Swizzles were great.

Finding bliss in the Bahamas
The Cipressi family of Ventnor – Rick, Derek, Cindy and
Jacqueline – enjoyed Easter vacation in the Bahamas. |
On deck for the cure
Dwight and Nancy Neglia of Mays Landing took a Caribbean
Cruise on Holland America’s Noordam in March. Leaving from
New York City, they visited Tortola, Domenica, Barbados, St.
Maarten, St. Thomas and San Juan. In partnership with the
Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, Holland America
sponsors a 5K walk around the deck. They said they were
enthusiastic participants to honor the memory of both their
mothers. |

Maureen DePrince of Collings Lakes won a seven-day cruise on
Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Gem with her husband,
Troy. This picture was taken at Freeport in the Bahamas. |
Lolling in Bermuda’s pink sand and turquoise water
The Lidke family of Egg Harbor Township took a cruise aboard
the Royal Caribbean’s Explorer of the Sea to Bermuda in
October. This picture of Tommy Lidke with his father, Thomas
Lidke, was taken by his mom, Karen Lidke, on a day they
spent on the pink sand and in the turquoise water at the
Horseshoe Bay Beach in Hamilton. They enjoyed much fun, food
and learning adventures traveling with family and friends
from Maryland.

Moose members travel with The Leader aboard the Carnival
Victory Cruise to the southern Caribbean. Islands visited
were San Juan, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas and St. Martin, U.S.
Virgin Islands.

Jeff and Lori (Schenck) Taccarino, from Ocean City, brought
the Gazette with them as they traveled to Grand Cayman with
family and friends as they got married. The wedding took
place on January 12 overlooking the Caribbean Sea. The
newlyweds spent 15 days of sun filled bliss on the island,
where they laid in the sun, went snorkeling, played with sea
turtles, and ate a lot of great food. |

Visit to Curacao’s historic waterfront
Attached is a photo of the Wren family from Egg Harbor
Township visiting Willemstad, Curacao in November. The
family traveled to share in the bar mitzvah celebration of
Noah Schutz of Linwood. Pictured are Vincent, 1; Frank;
Frankie, 3; and Maura. The backdrop is the historic
Otrobanda Waterfront.

They love it when they’re cruising
together
Good friends Tom and Chris Williams of Smithville and Ann
and Dick Howarth of North Carolina, formerly of Smithville,
traveled on their fifth cruise together, sailing on the
Emerald Princess in October, bringing the Current with them
on their journey. During the 11-day cruise to the Caribbean,
they visited Fort Lauderdale, Princess Cays (a private
island for Princess cruises), Grenada, Bonaire, Dominica and
Aruba.

Fabulous fun in Aruba
The Current traveled with the Demko family of Linwood to
Aruba in January. Bill, Nina, Ilana and Brooke had a
fabulous time sunning, horseback riding, playing poker and
trying all the great restaurants Aruba offers. A wonderful
time was had by all.

Temple of fun
Sierra and Noelle Sage of Northfield visited the Mayan
Temple, a five-slide water park attraction, on a trip to
Atlantis resort in Paradise Island, the Bahamas. |

The Beachcomber gets some sun in the Eastern Caribbean
John and Jolanta Risso enjoy their barbecue on the Holland
America Cruise Line ship the Noodam during their trip to the
Eastern Caribbean last week. Even The Beachcomber News made
it along for the trip.

Harriett Reardon Bailey of Ocean View and Dot Wood of South
Seaville are shown with the Gazette in front of the Queen
Mary 2 in St. Thomas. They sailed on Sunday, Jan. 13
following a wonderful celebration and fireworks display in
New York Harbor. It was a very memorable moment as the three
Cunard liners met for the first and only time at the Statue
of Liberty then sailed out together out of the harbor.

From the Emerald Society Cruise aboard the Caribbean
Princess Jan. 27 to Feb. 3, on the first day of the cruise
is Jimmy Dugan, Maureen Smith, Pat Bomwan, Denise Haley and
Doug Haley with The Leader while on Jan. 29 at sea are
Butch, Joe, Howie, Barbara, Doug and Rose.

What a long, strange trip it’s been
Five “strikingly handsome young men” from Linwood traveled
to the island of Barbados Dec. 15. Sitting on the steps are
Scott Kader, left, and Ryan Whiteside; standing are Ben
Hernberg and, in the Mainland jersey, Joseph Carroll. Taking
the picture is Koko Randalph. Whiteside said the travelers
got a lot of great footage of themselves surfing and
shredding, but the pictures and footage mysteriously
disappeared after what he called a “long, strange trip.” |

It’s all in the family
Pictured from left to right are Michele, Eric, Christine,
Rob, Joanne and Bob Sankey and the children, Jake and Jenna,
of Galloway Township. They are at Marriott’s new vacation
ownership resort, Frenchman’s Cove, for their annual fall
trip. The water behind them is where the cruise ships come
in to dock so that passengers can visit the historic town of
Charlotte Amalie on St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands.

In November, the Gazette traveled aboard the Royal
Caribbean cruise ship “The Liberty of the Seas” with the
Dougherty, Pearce and Schmid families from Seaville, along
with Tom and Betty Doughtery from Sea Isle City, Helen
Pearce from South Seaville and the Desimone family from
Pennsylvania.

Conquering the Caribbean
Cleve and Michelle Hester of Mays Landing took a Caribbean
cruise Dec. 8. The couple snorkeled in Tortola, conquered
the canopy zip lines in Antigua, swam in the crystal blue
waters off St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands, and toured
Nassau at Paradise Island. They said they made sure The
Current had the best accommodations in an aft balcony
stateroom.

A burning issue
Sue and Jim Rago of Linwood are shown here with their

Winnie Piriano and Donna Dillon are shown sailing on the
Queen Mary II at the commodore’s reception in the queen’s
room with the Gazette. They sailed out of New York for 10
days with five stops in the British Virgin Islands.

Havens in paradise
Guy and Annmarie Havens of Absecon spent their 25th wedding
anniversary at Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort in Nassau.
While there, they soaked up the sun, sampled many new foods,
went under the tropical waters in a bubble submarine, and
went sailing. They report that it was a beautiful paradise,
and they hope to go back soon. |

Together in Paradise
A group of travelers from Egg Harbor Township who dubbed
themselves the 1/12th Club visited the Atlantis Resort and
Casino at Paradise Island in Nassau, the Bahamas. Standing

The relaxation experience
Rob, Sherry and Robbie Higbee of Egg Harbor Township
recently cruised to the Bahamas, St. Thomas and St. Maarten.

All dressed up and going places
A group of friends took a nine-day Royal Caribbean cruise to
Bermuda and enjoyed Horseshoe Beach, parasailing in St.
Martin, scuba in St. Thomas, and touring and shopping in San
Juan July 6-15. Pictured on the staircase of Explorer of the

Bruce and Karen Charles of Ocean City and Audubon, Pa.
traveled with the Gazette to Aruba. Karen is holding the
Gazette. Bruce took the picture at Eagle Beach during an
international wind surfing competition. The couple stayed in
Aruba from June 25 to July 1 of this year.

This big group cruised with The Current to the eastern
Caribbean Feb. 3-10 aboard the Voyager of the Seas. Back

Honeymoon in Aruba
Colin Bell and Sarah Beth Johnson of Ventnor took The
Current along on their honeymoon to Aruba, where they
relaxed under traditional thatch palapas on famous Palm
Beach adjoining the Marriot Aruba Resort following their
July 3, 2007, beach wedding in Margate.
