Living it up at the luau
Isabelle, Jonathan and
Chris Nazha traveled to Maui, Hawaii, during spring break.
This photo was taken at the Old Lahaina Luau. They went on
to Oahu for a visit to Pearl Harbor and a few nights on
Waikiki Beach.

Jim and Jane Mount of Villas brought the
Gazette to Hilo, Hawaii, where Jim ran in a 10.8 mile race as part
of the Big Island International Marathon. He said he finished in an
hour and 46 minutes, calling it a good time for him, especially
since the first 8 miles were mostly uphill. The photo was taken
March 18.

Hanging loose in Hawaii
Douglas and Barbara
Loose of Somers Point traveled to Hawaii to visit their son
and daughter-in-law, Jay and LoriAnn Loose of Honolulu,
Hawaii. Jay, a former Somers Point resident, is a Navy
musician and a member of the Pacific Fleet Band in Pearl
Harbor. The couples are pictured here at Diamond Head State
Monument on the island of Oahu.

Molly Lamont went on a nine-day
trip to beautiful Maui. She is seen here relaxing with the Gazette
next to an ancient tribal war canoe. Molly and the Gazette survived
the plane ride far better than the photographers, Linda and Jay
Lamont.

Dining out on Kauai

Not a bad place to do
some research
Jim, Judy, Delaney and
MacKenzie Alton of Egg Harbor Township visited Maui for 15
days, including a two-day trip to the Big Island to visit
their good friend, Pelé, at her home in Kilauea, Caldera.
They are pictured overlooking Halemaumau Crater. They were
there celebrating Jim’s graduation from Richard Stockton
College with a degree in education. The trip presented a
perfect opportunity to study volcanoes up close for Jim, a
new seventh-grade science teacher at the Alder Avenue Middle
School. The family spent time hiking over lava fields and
viewing the Pu’u Loa Petroglyphs and Holei Sea Arch on Chain
of Craters Road.

Jim and Jane Good of Sea Isle
City and Tom and Mary Hannan of Cape May Beach enjoyed their
Hawaiian cruise on the Island Princess with the Gazette.

A wave from Waikiki
Dennis and Cherie Flath of Egg Harbor Township traveled to Hawaii
for a glorious 16-day stay to celebrate their 25th wedding
anniversary. They enjoyed snorkeling, hiking to a waterfall, biking,
kayaking, an “earthquake,” and just sharing their love together.
They are shown here after hiking to the top of Diamond Head Crater,
high above the city of Waikiki in the background.

Happy trails to waterfalls
In January Phyllis
Bagnell of Galloway Township and Melanie Lehneis of Egg
Harbor City celebrated Lehneis’s birthday by traveling to
Oahu to see Pearl Harbor and then to Maui for whale watching
and hiking trails along waterfalls in Hana. They enjoyed
shopping in Lahaina, Hawaii.
Skip Jastremski
of Rio Grande/Wildwood Crest traveled to Oahu, Hawaii just before
the holidays and said he “spent 16 glorious days in Surfers Paradise
exploring the North Shore, visiting the Pipeline Masters surfing
contest and The Triple Crown events. While there (we) traveled to
Haleiwa, the surfing capital of the world, and hung out with Johnny
Moore of the Famous Grass Skirt Grill.” He said there is also one in
Ocean City, and called it family oriented. He also traveled to Pearl
Harbor “and saw many sights that will be cherised in my heart for a
life time.” While there, he also traveled to the island of Maui on a
day outing and climbed to the top of Haleakala National Park (10,000
feet) saying “What a view.” When at home Jastremski said he enjoys
the company of his kids, grandkids and friends in Cape May County. |
