 Appreciating the art of Florence
Terri Horner of Northfield and Barbara de
Mauriac of Ocean City vacationed in Florence, Italy, famous for art
such as Michelangelo's statue of David. Their 14-day Mediterranean
cruise in September took them to Italy, Greece, Croatia, France and
Spain.

Duca, of West Wildwood, and Joanne and Dave Ellison. Barb, Phil, Joe

visited Italy in October 2006. They traveled to Rome, Pisa, Florence

Harriett Reardon Bailey, of Ocean View, took a three-week tour with
Grand Circle of the Lake District in Italy, Switzerland and Austria.

her vacation to Rome.

Celebrity
sighting in Rome
Anne Marie and
Denny Sher of Margate, pictured here at the Coliseum, spent a
fabulous eight days in Rome in November. Highlights of the week were
the papal audience and the privilege of kissing the pope’s feet.
They reported that while Anne Marie was shopping at Hermes, she
chanced upon Brooke Shields, who chatted with her and helped her
choose a scarf. The two said they also joined the paparazzi on the
Spanish Steps in front of Tom Cruise’s hotel and spoke with Franco
Harris at dinner and discovered they had mutual acquaintances.

Austin of Absecon took a 12-day cruise to the Mediterranean Sea on

they celebrated their marriage while cruising the Mediterranean Sea.

Gondola ride was Italy highlight
Samantha Florio and Maura Bakley of
Northfield are pictured in front of the Leaning Tower of Pisa during
their spring break trip to Italy. They saw many famous Italian
attractions including the Coliseum, the Spanish Steps, the Trevi
Fountain and the canals of Venice. They also took an unforgettable
boat trip to the Blue Grotto in Capri. They enjoyed walking around
the cities, and eating gelato, margarita pizzas and ravioli. Their
favorite part was the gondola ride in Venice.

 Seasoned cruisers
On Sept. 23 a group of
locals set sail on a tour of the Mediterranean that included
Venice, Croatia, Athens, Santorini, Naples, Isle of Capri,
Rome, Pisa, Monte Carlo and Barcelona.

group, which has been on several cruises together, is
planning its next cruise to New Zealand and Australia in the

The Peck Family, Bob, RJ, Christine and Matthew took their favorite
paper, the Middle Township Gazette to Rome in March of 2007. They
spent an amazing 11 days touring Italy. They spent time in Rome,
Venice, Florence, Sorrento, and Pompeii.

Stacchini of Smithville, her daughter Amy Strawder (center) of
Galloway Township, and cousin Beatrix Emich of Austria went on a St.
Pio of Pietrelcina pilgrimage at San Giovanni Rotondo in Italy in
September.

Giving Pisa a push
This fall, Joyce Moore and daughter Ashely, both from Absecon, and
their friend Ken Lamanteer from Port Republic took a tour of Italy.
They visited Rome, Venice, Florence, Pisa and the Almafi Coast. This
is a picture of Ashley and Joyce attempting to hold up the Leaning
Tower of Pisa while holding The Current. Lamanteer took the picture.
They said Italy is a beautiful country that everyone should try to
see.

First stop: Rome

Romonowski of Egg Harbor Township began their 65th birthday
celebration with The Current at St. Peter's Square at the Vatican in
Rome, Italy. From there they went to Florence, Venice, Verona,
Switzerland, and Stams, Austria, where they visited the famous
Cistercian Abbey built in 1273.

Marking 30 years
in the Eternal City
Carol and Scott
Higbee of Absecon celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in Italy
in late July. On July 27 they posed inside the ruins of the Coliseum
in Rome.

Friedenberg and Marie and Don Chillemi of the Four Seasons
at Smithville in Galloway Township visited Don Chillemi's
ancestral home at Oliveri, Sicily in April.

during a trip to attend a relative’s wedding in Italy.

Sorrento proposal
Brian Cottelli chose this romantic setting in Sorrento, Italy,
overlooking Mt. Vesuvius to propose to Cheri Rice during their
10-day trip to Italy. The Egg Harbor Township Intermediate School
teachers and township residents are hoping for a wedding in the
summer of 2007.
Honeymooning
at the Coliseum
Stella and Marc
Wiser were married Sept. 3 and spent their honeymoon in Rome. They
live in Philadelphia but spend weekends in Margate, where Marc was
born and raised.
Barbara and Charlie Ferris, Jack and
Regina Evans, and Ginny and Paul Becker, of Ocean City, traveled
recently to Italy, the Greek Islands and Turkey with the Gazette.

Four from
Absecon under the Tuscan Sun
Gary and Louise
Baca and Marge and Lou Paradis, Louise’s parents, of Absecon enjoyed
a European vacation in celebration of the Paradis’ 50th anniversary.
The Current traveled with them to Paris, Venice, Florence, Tuscany
and Rome on a two-week whirlwind vacation. They stayed in the villa
Relais Fattoria in Greve in the Chianti wine valley for five
glorious days soaking up the Tuscan sun, not to mention Tuscan food
and wine.

grandson, Jacob Ruden, visited the Four Rivers Fountain at the
Piazza Navona in Rome.
