Cocktails at the cabana
Jill and Dale Conover of Absecon took The Current on vacation in May
to the Grand Sunset Princess Beachfront in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
They spent a relaxing week going to the beach and having butlered
tropical drinks served to them at their private cabana by the pool.
Barberas land a big one
The Barbera family of Egg Harbor Township – Mark, Josette, Santino,
Vittorio and Lorenzo – landed this 350 pound black marlin 36 miles
offshore at Roca Corbetena on a recent trip to Puerto Vallarta,
Mexico. They also caught two yellowfin tuna. Unfortunately, the
marlin could not be revived and released after the battle. The
Barberas also enjoyed swimming with the dolphins, a tequila factory
tour, pirate cruise, the zip lines canopy tour at the site where the
movie "Predator" was filmed, and many other excursions.
Finally getting their honeymoon cruise
Richard and Jennifer Deans of Margate enjoy a honeymoon in Cabo San
Lucas, Mexico, finally getting some time for themselves without
their two children, Cody and Brittney. Here, they enjoy the CaboRay
cruise ship at Lover’s Beach, where the Sea of Cortez meets the
Pacific Ocean.
Getting an eyeful of the canyon
Eileen Ruth of the Smithville section of Galloway Township toured
the Copper Canyon in Mexico in February.
Over the moon about Cancun
Dr. Richard and Wendy Ruden of Margate traveled with their son,
Jacob, to Cancun, Mexico, Dec. 23-30. Here, they enjoy the Moon
Palace resort. Their activities included snorkeling, swimming and
horseback riding on the beach.
Happy in Puerto Vallarta
Anna and Louis Niedelman of Margate send holiday greetings to their
friends at home from the Malecon, a waterfront boulevard in Puerto
Vallarta, Mexico.
Kristi Maund and Chelsea Fossett, of Dennis Township, took the
Gazette along with them to Cancun, Mexico. They were kind enough to
bring Keith and Allison Maund with them to take the picture.
There are three Gazettes in this picture. They are in the front
left, center and right hand side of the group. Members, family and
friends of the Commodore Club in Sea Isle City traveled aboard the
Norwegian Spirit On Feb. 24 through March 2. The trip started with a
few days in New Orleans and then they sailed to ports of call that
included Honduras, Guatemala, Belize and Cozumel.
While on the annual Commodore Club Cruise to Honduras, Guatemala,
Belize and Cozumel, the Gazette partied at Carlos-n-Charlie's in
Cozumel, Mexico with John and Tricia Milburn from Sea Isle City;
Tony and Stephanie Garreffi from Petersburg; Kirk and Antoinette
Rohrer from Seaville; Jimmy Fusco from Palermo; George and Nancy
Gillespie and Audrey Kramer from Sea Isle City.
Mimi Stach, Joe Franco {of Wildwood Crest} and Mike and Laura
Sidebotham {formerly of North Wildwood} and The Wildwood Leader
enjoy a cruise to Mexico for the Easter holiday.

daughters, Courtney & Lauren McDade. They took The Leader with them
to Dreams Resort in Cancun last week. We live in Douglassville, Pa.
but our summer home is in Wildwood, along with a rental in North
Wildwood.

jungle while on an excursion. We stayed at the Grand Palladium in
Riviera Maya, and went horseback riding through the jungle and

The Neill family took the Ocean City Gazette to Punta Cana to

Ancient surroundings, modern travelers
Newlyweds Rich and Kristin Zappala of
Northfield took their favorite hometown newspaper (The Current was
the very first thing they packed) on a trip to the tropical Riviera
Maya in Mexico. Here, they stand in front of a stone carving

Mainland entourage takes on Cancun
Over Easter break in April, a group of about 30 people from
Northfield and Linwood traveled to Cancun, Mexico. Mainland Regional
High School seniors who have been friends since childhood and their
family members and friends traveled together to celebrate many years
of close friendship and say farewell as they venture off to begin
their college years.

Derek and Sandra Jensen, of Cape May Court House, celebrate Derek’s
50th birthday in Acapulco, Mexico, Sept. 7 through 16 with the
Gazette. The weather was beautiful every day. No rain or hurricanes.

This one didn’t get away
The fishing at Riviera Maya, Mexico was fantastic this May for the
Barbera family of Egg Harbor Township, pictured here with a
beautiful Atlantic sailfish. Overall, they caught two sailfish, two
white marlin, 15 dorado and a tuna. Pictured are Mark Barbera,

Easing into 50
The days and times were all sunny at Coconuts
in Cozumel, Mexico, for the celebration of Kevin Walsh McCarthy's
50th birthday. Joining Kevin and his wife, Donna, of Ventnor were
Dan and Kathleen McCarthy of Medford Lakes, Katie McCarthy of
Margate, Fla., Cookie and Mark Casto of Egg Harbor Township, and
Michael and Leann Palamaro (not pictured) of Monmouth Beach.
Rest and relaxation in Mexico
Jim, Cindy, Lauren and Lindsey Chambers along
with Nick, Angela, Katie and Nicholas Atohi, all from Northfield,
spent a week of rest and relaxation in Riviera Maya, Mexico. They
stayed at the Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar Resort Nov. 5-12, where this
picture was taken, and said they had an awesome time.
Ali Hendricks of Palermo traveled
with the Gazette to the Dreams Resort in Cancun, Mexico where she
met up with a few of her amigos, Ronnie and Victor. She spent most
of her time somersaulting through the air on this bungee trampoline.
A
first-place vacation
On the beach at
Iberostar Paraiso Beach Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico, are, left to

Kajal Desai. The friends, all from Egg Harbor Township, reported
that Nipur Desai and G. Dull II took first place in an archery and
rifle competition at the resort during their November vacation.
Can-do in Cancun
Alicia Weeks, Kevin Weeks, Frank Karovic, Crissy
Karovic and Tawny Clark, all of Galloway Township, took a trip to
Cancun, Mexico.
Ned and Marilyn Warrington celebrating Ned’s retirement took the
Gazette on their 29 day trip to the Copper Canyon, Mexico and then
visited friends and relatives in 28 states for two months. This
picture was taken in Guaymas, Mexico.
Something’s fishy
Fish Ludy and Stephanie Stollenwerk are shown
here at Pez Quattro, Costa Maya, during one of the stops on a
nine-day cruise they took on Royal Caribbean with their parents,
Barry and Cherie Ludy of Egg Harbor Township, over spring break.

Friends Judy Preston and Pat Donohue, of
Ocean City, traveled with the Gazette to the Mexican Riviera during

Looking down on Old Mexico
James Daiker and grandson Sammy Smith traveled to Puerto Vallarta,
Mexico, in March. Sammy went swimming with the dolphins, sailed on a

Temple of inspiration
This photo of Tina Nolan of Somers Point was
taken in April by her partner, Barbara Patrizzi of Somers Point, at
the foot of one of the temples in Muyil, Quintana Roo, Mexico. The
ancient Mayan city is believed to have been settled around 300 B.C. Muyil
is situated in the beautiful Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, which
is on the east coast of the Yucatan.

Leader loves Puerto Vallarta
The Mareks, of Wildwood, took The Wildwood Leader on vacation to

Surf’s up in Costa Rica
For spring break, Riley, Colin and Erin
McGuigan of Somers Point headed down to Costa Rica for some surfing
and exploring in the sun. They stayed at the Barcelo in Playa
Langosta just outside of the famous surfing town of Tamarindo. They
enjoyed Easter in the sun, and Erin celebrated her 11th birthday
during the trip.
Sisters Kimberly Brown, 7, and
Courtney Lepping, 12, of Tuckahoe took a day of their vacation to
Cancun, Mexico to visit the archaeological site of Chichen-Itza in
Maya with the Gazette.
In November, Craig and Sumi Gerhart
and the Gazette traveled to Cancun, Mexico for two weeks. The
picture was taken on the beach at the Royal Sands Resort.
Travels with
mahi-mahi
Members of the
Barbera family of Egg Harbor Township (Mark, Santino, Vittorio and
Lorenzo) show off their mahi-mahi catch while vacationing in Cabo
San Lucas, Mexico. In all they caught eight mahi-mahi, one bonito,
and briefly fought a Pacific sailfish. The picture was taken by
Josette Barbera on the vessel Mextime less than three miles offshore
where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez.
Educational trip to Mexico
Carlton and
Loretta Platt of Mays Landing took their
granddaughter, Amanda Conner of Ocean City, on an
educational trip to Mexico March 29 to April 6.
After crossing the border into Mexico at El Paso,
they boarded a train in Creel for a trip through the
Copper Canyon. After overnight stays in El Fuerte
and in the Copper Canyon, they finished their trip
in Chihuahua, then drove to El Paso to fly home. In
the above picture has the El Fuerte river in the
background; they had just finished a float trip down
the river.
