A great Vegas side trip
Marylee Alperin of Atlantic City and her daughter Elise
Waldman of Linwood brought their Current to Red Rock Canyon
on a recent trip to Las Vegas, Nev. They both recommend Red
Rock Canyon as a great place to spend a few hours when you
visit Las Vegas.
High-altitude fun
The Skroski family of Galloway Township recently vacationed
at Heavenly Ski Resort in South Lake Tahoe. They enjoyed a
week of skiing at altitudes of 10,000 feet and broke up the
skiing with a day of snowmobiling in the mountains in the
background. To the left are Gary and wife Nanci, Joanne
Marko (Nanci's sister), Emily and Eric Silver, and
step-sister and brother Erica and Matt Skroski.
Miss America hostesses head to Hollywood
Eleven hostesses from the Atlantic City area went to Las
Vegas for the Miss America Pageant Jan. 26, 2008, when Miss
Michigan Kirsten Haglund was crowned Miss America 2008. They
are Betty Paxon, Susan Hachett, Mary Lee Cale, Bernadette
Strecher, Amy Romer, Gayle Ackerman, Joanne Kenny, Terri
Coneski, Tessa Goldsmith, Carol Bennis and Kathy Darcy.
Weekend of fun and laughs
Susan Gaglio of Somers Point, above, and Sharon Garrett,
both from Animation Salon in Ventnor, had a great weekend of
fun and laughs in Las Vegas over the holidays. They saw
Donny and Marie Osmond’s Christmas show at the Flamingo
Hotel and Casino and caught the 50th anniversary Rodeo.
Pleasant company
On a recent trip to Las Vegas, friends were again reunited
in travel. Tom and Chris Williams of Smithville and Ann and
Dick Howarth of North Carolina spent several days together
touring Las Vegas. The Williamses also visited their son and
his family, who are stationed in Las Vegas with the Air
Force.
Viva Las Vegas
Christine Daisey of Atlantic City and Michael Leary of
Somers Point went on a trip to Las Vegas, Nev. During their
stay at the Flamingo Hotel, they read The Current while
lounging by the pool, visited Fremont Street, took a tour of
Hoover Dam, and went to shows, including “Jubilee.”
Royal baby christening
Patricia Royal of Northfield traveled to Las Vegas, Nev. for
the christening of her third grandson, Jackson Phoenix. The
ceremony took place at St. Thomas More Community Catholic
Church in Henderson. Holding the baby is her daughter-in-law
Abby, with the baby's father, Jerry Mayes.
Mason Lewis is visiting his grandparents, George and Pat
Lewis in Las Vegas for Thanksgiving. He did a little hiking
in Red Rock Canyon with the Gazette.
Nancy Metz from North Wildwood holding The

Wedding in Vegas
This photo shows Alfred and Kristina Strumolo of Northfield
in front of the Little Church of the West in Las Vegas,
Nev., where they were married June 8, 2007. Originally built
in 1943, the historic landmark is known as the "wedding
place of the stars" because it is said that more celebrities
have been married there than any other place in the world.
The Gazette went along for the wedding of Tom and
Michele Castellante, married in Vegas. Also pictured are
Antornette Viggliano, cousin; Patricia Petrik, matron of
honor; and Ronald Petrik, best man.
In May, the Gazette traveled to Las Vegas with Dave
Farina, Lisa Fusco, Antoinette and Kirk Rohrer. The Paris
Resort and Casino, which is pictured in the background, is
where they stayed and enjoyed the world famous strip.
The Gazette traveled with Antoinette and
Lisa Fusco to Las Vegas to surprise their father, Jimmy
Fusco, for his 60th birthday. Boy was Jimmy surprised and
speechless. That's a first. The Gazette is pictured with
Dave Farina, Lisa Fusco, Kirk and Antoinette Rohrer, Jimmy
Fusco, Pat and Joe Tanghare outside of the Venetian Resort
and Casino, where they celebrated his birthday with a dinner
at the Delmonico Steakhouse.

their room on the 39th floor of Caesar’s Palace, overlooking the
Strip, with the Eiffel Tower and Bellagio Fountains visible in the
background. The Gallos recently moved to the Four Seasons in
Galloway from New York City.
Their friendship is in the cards
Another wonderful holiday was enjoyed by a
group of friends who have played cards together for over 30 years,
this one in Las Vegas. The group has traveled together to London,
Paris, New England and New York City. Pictured above at the Bellagio

This is the second time the couples have timed their vacations
together in Las Vegas. During the Williams’ 11 days in Vegas, they
visited their son, a major and pilot in the U.S. Air Force, and his
