The following questions have been posed to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection by the city of Margate. The Margate City Commissioners said they want to be good neighbors and are seeking answers and information that would conclude with a positive result for both Ventnor and Margate:
If Margate had joined the original beachfill replenishment program would this groin be necessary?
What is the cost of the groin relative to the cost if Margate had joined the beachfill program?
If Margate were to join the beachfill program at this point, would the groin project be eliminated?
What is the actual rate of sand leaving Ventnor beaches and how much of that sand is actually being deposited on Margate beaches?
If that volume can be quantified, what is the potential for Margate to pay for that sand?
