The March 22 edition of The Downbeach Current incorrectly stated that Mayor Vaughan Reale had given his support along with Commissioner John Swift to allow voters to choose between their current Type I school district status in which school board members are appointed or a Type II district in which members are elected. The mayor did not agree to support the referendum vote. Residents, who were already collecting signatures on a petition, were successful in getting the 426 signatures required to put the question on the May 8 ballot. TOP
