Margate has a better address

MARGATE – Residents here think the city of Margate is a great place, and now anyone connected to the Internet will be able to see it for themselves. It’s just a click away.
The city hired Parker and Partners Marketing Resources of Absecon to completely redesign its website. The cost was $5,000.
Mayor Vaughan Reale long contended that the first impression of the city for many people is what they find on the Internet and that it is important that Margate make a good first impression.
Aside from giving visitors to the website a listing of city departments, restaurants, attractions and businesses, the city commissioners who approved the funding for the website are hoping it just might convince some people to make Margate their home all year long.
The home page features the catch phrase “Come home to stay,” which is followed by Margate’s zip code: “08402 – a better address.”
The site is filled with pictures of Margate throughout the seasons and has a link for all departments. It even gives the current weather and a 10-day forecast.
In the near future the site will have links to minutes of the City Commission meetings and all of the agendas for commission, planning and zoning meetings. It will also have audio in the future.
Parker and Partners has also included an interactive component that will allow for comments.
The site, www.margate-nj.com, will be managed by Margate information technology specialist Fred Verna.
