VENTNOR — The Chabad Chai Center, 6605 Atlantic Ave., will host the author of a recently released book about Jewish and American history 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13.
The histories of the mob and Jews in America are intertwined, according to author Myron Sugerman, who wrote “The Chronicles of the Last Jewish Gangster from Meyer to Myron.” The book traces the earliest days of the mafia to present day, with stories told from a Jewish viewpoint and gleaned from Sugerman's firsthand experiences and family connections to Jewish mobsters.
While the talk does not condone any of the illegal activities the mob is accused of, it does share some unknown positive contributions of some of the Jewish mobsters, according to a press release about the event.
The program includes a menorah lighting ceremony, latkes, appetizers, and wine and beer.
Donation is $18 by Dec. 10; $25 at the door.
