Beth El Synagogue, 500 N. Jerome Ave., Margate will host a movie afternoon 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, screening the film, “Defying the Nazis: The Sharps’ War.” The movie is an account of a daring rescue mission that occurred at the precipice of World War II. It tells the story of Waitstill and Martha Sharp, a Unitarian minister and his wife from Wellesley, Mass., who left their children behind in the care of their parish and boldly committed to multiple dangerous missions in Europe. Over two years they helped to save hundreds of imperiled political dissidents and Jewish refugees fleeing the Nazi occupation across Europe. Cost is $5 per person and includes light snacks.
