Max Mittelman, of Atlantic City, asked his girlfriend, Laura Murphy, of Linwood, to marry him Thursday at the Eagles parade in Philadelphia.
Mittelman, 27, who is also a Longport lifeguard, got down on one knee and proposed to Murphy, 26, in front of the Franklin Institute steps on N. 20th Street right before the parade came by.
They have been a couple since high school and graduated from Mainland Regional High School in Linwood together in 2009.
Mittelman said he was going to propose next month over spring break, but he and Murphy both love the Eagles.
“I made the decision on Tuesday and told family friends,” Mittelman said.
Mittelman and Murphy took the NJ Transit train to the parade.
Mittelman’s mother, Murphy’s mother and a bunch of friends of the couple witnessed the engagement.
The couple plans to get married in summer 2019 in the Atlantic City area, Mittelman said.
