Letters to the Editor

I am proud to endorse Democrat Eric Scheffler for Atlantic County sheriff. I have personally known Eric for more than 40 years and can speak to his qualifications both personally and professionally.

Eric has always been the type of person who commits himself "all in" to the challenges he accepts. In childhood and in his teens he dedicated himself to academics, athletics and self defense, in all of which he excelled. As an adult, his passion has been law enforcement, and more particularly a dedication to ensuring that officers under his command have the best training to handle both the critical and day-to-day responsibilities they face. I have always found him to be professional, informed and competent during our interactions. He went out of his way on more than one occasion to assist my department in our training needs, and I am very grateful and pleased with the results.

Despite being a registered Republican, my choice for this position is clear. Eric Scheffler should succeed Frank Balles as Atlantic County sheriff. I know he will bring the same drive, determination and work ethic that I have seen in him my entire life to the Atlantic County Sheriff's Office. I will proudly cast my ballot for him on Nov. 7.

(Ret.) Chief Michael S. Miller, Ventnor City Police Department
