ATLANTIC CITY – The Tara Miller Melanoma Foundation will hold its fourth annual “Make the Best of it Bash” 7-10 p.m. Friday, June 30 at Tropicana Casino Resort Ballroom. The foundation is hoping to exceed last year's $525,000 fundraising total.

More than 700 supporters attended last year's bash, which reflected Tara Miller's vision of what a fun event should be and her passion for raising money to find a cure. Some of the auction items for this year's event include dinners with Charles Barkley and Connor Barwin, Bruce Springsteen tickets and a meet and greet with the E Street Band, signed guitars and sports memorabilia, vacations and cruises, jewelry and more.

Through her battle with stage four melanoma, Miller endured five brain surgeries, a full neck dissection, four rounds of gamma knife radiation, four rounds of infusions, six weeks of proton radiation and three weeks of full brain radiation.

The Longport resident had five words that became synonymous with her fight to get through it all: “Make the Best of It.” Unfortunately, she lost her battle on Oct. 14, 2014, but before she succumbed to melanoma, she created The Tara Miller Melanoma Foundation to increase awareness of the disease. The foundation hosted its first bash in June 2014, which included appearances from local politicians, athletes and residents eager to lend their support to the important cause.

Thanks to the outpouring of support, the event surpassed expectations and raised $334,000, all of which was donated to the University of Pennsylvania Hospital’s Abramson Cancer Center.

To date, the Tara Miller Melanoma Foundation has provided more than $1.5 million for melanoma research.

Tickets for the event are $150 per person.
