MARGATE — The Eugene A. Tighe Middle School Drama Club will present the musical "Beauty and the Beast Jr." Thursday through Saturday, Jan. 11-13 at the Dominick A. Potena Performing Arts Center.

Directed by music teacher Debbie Roland and choreographed by Melanie Brough, the production features music and lyrics by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, and is based on the book by Linda Woolverton.

The show tells the story of Belle, a bookish girl who lives with her aging father, Maurice, who gets imprisoned by the Beast in his enchanted castle in the woods.

If the Beast can learn to love, he will be transformed to his former self, the Prince. In the meantime, the castle comes to life when the dishes and cutlery start dancing.

The Margate Education Foundation provided a grant to support of the production.
