Michael Brennan of Cardinal Bistro in Ventnor will be featured on an episode of the Food Network's "Cooks vs. Cons" airing 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4.

VENTNOR – Cardinal Bistro executive chef Michael Brennan, 24, of Absecon will be featured on tonight’s episode of the Food Network’s new cooking show, “Cooks vs. Cons.” The episode is scheduled to air 9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4.

Hosted by celebrity chef Geoffrey Zakarian, the show pits home cooks against professional chefs without revealing which is which.

Brennan is a 2014 graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. He opened Cardinal Bistro here in the summer of 2016. The restaurant features upscale American cuisine fused with Mediterranean, French, Asian and Indian influences. Brennan calls it a “melting pot of cuisines.”

His background includes stints at Le Bec Fin, Lacriox and the Rittenhouse restaurants in Philadelphia and several restaurants in Charleston, South Carolina.

The restaurant gets its name from artwork created by his mother, Carla.
