Kindergarten registration open

The Egg Harbor Township School District is accepting kindergarten registrations. Call 609-927-4141, ext. 1234 for information or an appointment. Required items include shot records, original birth certificate, mortgage statement, tax bill, utility bill, or current lease if renting, and valid driver’s license. Only the legal parent or guardian can register a child. Custody papers are accepted if the legal guardian is not available. Children must be 5 years old on or before Oct. 1, 2017. See eht.k12.nj.us.

Spring rec programs

Egg Harbor Township Recreation Department’s spring program guide is now available online at ehtrec.com. Township residents can register online or in person at the Community Center, 5045 English Creek Ave. Programs for all ages include exercise classes, arts and crafts, cooking classes, magic class, science class, dance classes, ready-set-go, karate, Special Olympics Young Athletes and more. St. Patrick’s Day luncheon

The Ranch Hope organization’s annual St. Patrick's Day luncheon to benefit Ranch Hope for at-risk boys and girls will be held 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, March 17 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 290 Asbury Road. Scullville Fire Co. beef and beer

The Scullville Volunteer Fire Company will hold a beef and beer fundraiser 3-7 p.m. Saturday, March 18 at the station, 1708 Somers Point-Mays Landing Road. Special education resource

The Egg Harbor Township Special Education Resource Group meets 7 p.m. one Monday a month at Alder Avenue Middle School. The meetings provide a stress-free way for special needs parents, staff, administrators and guest speakers to address topics regarding special education services and strategies. The meeting dates are March 20 (boardroom), April 24 (library) and May 22 (library). Spring Flower Thing contest

The Egg Harbor Township High School Eagle Greenery will hold its First Day of Spring Flower Thing flower-arranging contest 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Monday, March 20 in the commons area outside the school store. Tickets are 50 cents, and all are welcome to stop at the school to purchase tickets and cast a vote. Color run

Egg Harbor Township Education Foundation Inc. will hold the 5K My School Color Run 9 a.m. Sunday, April 9 at Egg Harbor Township High School. Proceeds will go toward scholarships and mini-grants to students. The race is a fun run for all ages and fitness abilities. Along the route, participants pass through color zones. Participants who register by March 24 will receive a T-shirt and a powder color packet that will be thrown in the air at the final color celebration at the finish line. The Egg Harbor Township Board of Education will hold regular meetings at 7 p.m. on the following Tuesdays in the board room of Alder Avenue Middle School: March 28, April 11, April 25, May 9, May 23, June 13, June 27, July 25, Aug. 22, Sept. 12, Sept. 26, Oct. 10, Oct. 17, Nov. 14, Nov. 28, and Dec. 12. Bus trip to Washington, D.C.

EHT Recreation is offering a bus trip to Washington, D.C., Saturday, March 25 during the Cherry Blossom Festival. Jail or Bail fundraiser

The Egg Harbor Township Police Athletic League will hold its annual Jail or Bail event 4-8 p.m. Saturday, March 25 at McCullough's Emerald Golf Links Pub & Restaurant, 3016 Ocean Heights Ave. Proceeds benefit development of Buddy's Adventure Zone. Free rabies clinic

Egg Harbor Township will host a free rabies clinic 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, March 25 at the township municipal garage, 6120 Mill Road. Dogs will be vaccinated 9-11:30 a.m.; cats are 11:30 a.m.-noon. Pet licenses will also be available; the fee is $9 for neutered pets and $15 for others, checks or exact change only. After March 31, a late fee of $3 will be added to the cost of each license purchased at the Township Clerk’s Office, 3515 Bargaintown Road. Call 609-926-4085.

Celebrate NJ Makers Day

The Egg Harbor Township branch of the Atlantic County Library, 1 Swift Ave., invites the public to celebrate NJ Makers Day from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, March 25. Build stringed instruments by bringing a shoebox with a lid, and the library will supply the rest of materials, or make a 2-inch button with the library’s button maker. Cat benefit

Life Improvement for Cats and Kittens, also known as LICK, will hold its spring fundraiser, The Furball Fiesta, 7-10 p.m. Saturday, March 25 at the Scullville Volunteer Fire Company fire hall, 1708 Somers Point-Mays Landing Road. Cost is $10 in advance or $15 at door. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Pet Pros, 112 Woodland Ave., Somers Point or by mail to LICK, PO Box 392, Mays Landing, NJ 08330. Includes food, DJ and auction. Donations of canned cat food requested. The three tables that bring the most cat food will get free auction tickets. LICK works to improve the lives of cats and kittens in Atlantic County.

Mike Huckabee to headline ACS Gala

Former Arkansas Gov. The Community Partnership for Egg Harbor Township Schools Inc. will honor three local "aces" at its Dice and Dine 10th annual fundraising dinner 6 p.m. Saturday, April 1 at Atlantic City Country Club, 1 Leo Fraser Drive, Northfield. The event will include live casino games by Full House Casino Entertainment, a two-hour open beer and wine bar, food and dessert stations, and casino games including blackjack, craps, roulette, money wheel and Texas hold ‘em poker. Easter Bunny lunch

The Alder Avenue Middle School Renaissance and Student Council will present an afternoon with the Easter Bunny noon-3 p.m. Saturday, April 1 in the school cafeteria. children's tickets are $10 and include a slice of pizza, soda, crafts, games, photos with bunny and more; adult tickets are $3 and include a slice of pizza and a soda. Ellis Island bus trip

EHT Recreation is organizing a bus trip to Ellis Island Saturday, April 8. Document shredding

Egg Harbor Township residents can bring their household documents to the Community Center, 5045 English Creek Ave., for free shredding 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, April 29 or until the truck is full, whichever comes first. No commercial materials accepted. Books, magazines and newspapers should be recycled through ACUA. Call public works at 609-926-3838.

Community Pride Day

The Egg Harbor Township Clean Communities Program will hold its Spring Community Pride Day 8:30 p.m. Saturday, April 29. Volunteers are wanted to clean up public spaces and roadsides. Volunteers will gather at the Community Center, 5045 English Creek Ave., where trash bags, gloves and T-shirts will be handed out. Includes free lunch for participants after at the Community Center.
