Welcome to History Notes, our weekly feature that looks at Egg Harbor Township history. Each week, we get a chance to learn or reminisce courtesy of Lynn Wood of the Greate Egg Harbour Township Historical Society, who shares early photos of places in Egg Harbor Township with our readers.

Ben Franklin, portrayed by Mike Kochan from Paoli, Pa., will make an appearance at the upcoming Call of Duty military timeline re-enactment at the Greate Egg Harbor Township Historical Society on Saturday, July 29. Kochan has been portraying Ben Franklin for more than 25 years and is one of the most sought-out historical characters in the tri-state area.

The Call of Duty event, which honors the U.S. soldier throughout time, will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 6647 West Jersey Ave. in Egg Harbor Township. Re-enactors of wars throughout history will set up exhibits. A Holocaust survivor will share stories, and there will be a World War II-type aircraft flyover. The event will also feature military firing demonstrations and a Ben Franklin impersonator sharing his inventions. The free event features food, live music, speakers, drills and more.
