3 arrested on drug charges after traffic stop in Egg Harbor Township

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP —Three people were arrested following a traffic stop in the Cardiff section of the township on Monday, July 17 in which drugs were allegedly found in the vehicle.

According to police, Kevin Thomas, 21, of Hamilton Township, James Johnson, 44, of Sarasota, Fla., and Crystal Kilkenny, 35, of West Chester, Pa., were arrested after Officer Edward Stearns conducted a stop for motor vehicle violations on the Black Horse Pike in the area of English Creek Avenue around 12:30 a.m.

An investigation at the scene of the stop, assisted by K-9 Officer Robert Sheppard and his partner Neiko, led to the recovery of heroin, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Also located during the investigation were some of the proceeds from a vehicle burglary that took place in Absecon on Sunday, July 16.

Thomas was charged with possession of heroin, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of hypodermic needles, receiving stolen property and hindering his own apprehension. Johnson was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of hypodermic needles, receiving stolen property and motor vehicle charges. Kilkenny was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of hypodermic needles and receiving stolen property.

Additionally Thomas was charged with three additional vehicle burglaries that occurred in Egg Harbor Township in January. All three were released on summons and given a date to appear in court.
