EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP — A motel resident was arrested on drug and weapons charges after authorities found more than 7,000 bags of suspected heroin and guns in a room, authorities said.

Malik Smith, 25, was charged after authorities executed a search warrant Wednesday on a room at Howard Johnson’s Hotel on Black Horse Pike, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner said Friday.

Smith was taken to the Atlantic County jail.

Police seized:

• 7,575 bags of suspected heroin stamped “King of Death”

• raw unpackaged heroin

• powder cocaine

• crystal methamphetamine

• marijuana

• Glock 19 9mm pistol stolen in Georgia

• Smith & Wesson 9VE 9mm pistol

• Hollow-point bullets

• 5,500 empty wax bags ready for packaging

• A cutting agent, scale and sifters.

A Galloway Township couple were arrested Friday after the woman’s 2-year-old daughter was found to be so severely beaten that she displayed a “failure to thrive,” the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Smith was charged with maintaining and operating a controlled dangerous substance production facility, manufacturing and distributing more than 5 ounces of heroin and fentanyl, conspiracy, two counts of unlawful possession of a handgun, two counts of possession of a firearm while committing a CDS offense, receiving stolen property, eluding police, resisting arrest by flight and hindering apprehension.

The investigation included the prosecutor’s Gangs, Guns and Narcotics Unit, the Pleasantville police Street Crimes Unit, New Jersey Air National Guard and police from Egg Harbor, Galloway and Hamilton townships and Stockton University.
