EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP — If severe weather forces Egg Harbor Township High School to change plans for its outdoor graduation on Monday, June 19, the following contingency plan will be used, Assistant Superintendent Kim Gruccio said in a news release.
The commencement ceremony is currently scheduled for 6:10 p.m. It is a rain-or-shine event, so spectators are encouraged to come prepared for possible rain showers.
Please note all times have been changed to an hour earlier.
If extreme weather, such as tornadoes or prolonged lighting storms were to occur:
• The start time of the ceremony could be adjusted anywhere between 4 and 8 p.m. to ensure safety. The adjusted start time would be communicated through the district website, calls to student homes and local media outlets.
If extreme weather were to occur continuously through the 4-8 p.m. timeframe:
• The ceremony would be rescheduled for Tuesday, June 20, at 6:10 p.m. in the football stadium, with the same range of possible start times communicated through the methods above.
• Project Graduation, a drug- and alcohol-free overnight event for graduates and their guests, will still take place the night of Monday, June 19, even if the graduation ceremony is rescheduled for Tuesday night.
