EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP – Police have identified one of the suspects in a reported home invasion robbery earlier this month in the Scullville section of the township.

At about 9:50 p.m. Oct. 3, township police responded to a home on Princeton Avenue for a report of two armed men forcibly gaining entrance into the home and stealing from it, said Capt. Christopher Ruef.

Bilal Freeman, 23, of Mays Landing, has been charged in the incident, Ruef said.

Freeman and another man allegedly approached victims outside the home, while wearing masks and armed, Ruef said. They allegedly ordered the victims into the garage, duct taped their hands and stole items from the home.

Freeman and the other alleged suspect were described as two thin black males, one wearing a hooded sweatshirt and “Halloween hockey mask,” the other wearing a dark-colored mask covering half his face, Ruef said.

Police recovered two handguns and other evidence left behind by the suspects.

Investigators said they feel this is an isolated incident that does not present an increased risk to other residents in the area.

Atlantic City Police arrested and turned over Freeman to Egg Harbor Township detectives.

Freeman was charged with robbery, aggravated assault and weapons offenses. He was taken to the Atlantic County Jail.

Investigators said they feel this is an isolated incident that does not present an increased risk to other residents in the area.

The New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit and police from Pleasantville and Hamilton Township assisted with the preliminary investigation.
