Miss America 2017 Savvy Shields stopped by Davenport Complex on Tuesday, Oct. 18 to share her message of how important good nutrition is to overall health. The students, who were allowed to wear a favorite hat or tiara to the assembly, were able to ask her questions about what it is like to be Miss America, her goals and more.

The Arkansas native is traveling the country on a year of service to promote her platform: "Eat Better, Live Better." She is 21 years old and a senior at the University of Arkansas where she studies art and business.

She told the Davenport students she hopes to become a professional artist after she is done her education and tour as Miss America.

During her year, she serves as the national goodwill ambassador for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
