EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP — The new 14,847-square-foot Atlantic Medical Imaging center should be open in January.
The site is located at 6529 Black Horse Pike at Spruce Avenue.
"We are having inspections as we speak," said Dr. David Levi, president and CEO of AMI.
Everything is pretty much done on the inside, and it is in the process of receiving final approvals from the state and the township, Levi said.
The general contractor was O.A. Peterson Construction of Montclair, Essex County, which specializes in health care construction, but the subcontractors were based in South Jersey, Levi said.
"We are going to be offering all of the state-of-the-art imaging services that we have offered to Atlantic County, except in a brand-new, state-of-the-art center, and we couldn't be more excited about how it's turning out," Levi said.
The new location will be a full-service imaging center, featuring CT, MRI, x-ray and ultrasound services. The Women's Imaging Center will include 3-D mammography, DEXA, ultrasound and minimally invasive breast biopsies.
The new location was selected based on where AMI patients live and where they could be best served, Levi said. It is centrally located between the now-closed Festival shopping center location in Mays Landing and the Hingston Avenue location in Egg Harbor Township, Levi said. Hingston Avenue will close once the pike location is fully operational, he said.
"Our main centers will be Somers Point, Galloway Township and the new one," Levi said.
AMI, which is headquartered in the Pomona section of Galloway, also plans to open a new center early next year in the AtlantiCare Health Park, Manahawkin Campus, according to AtlantiCare.
