EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP — Mayor James “Sonny” McCullough honored Theodore Rockelman on his retirement after 30 years with the township Public Works Department.

“Ted has done a little bit of everything in Public Works. Sanitation, buildings, grounds, snow plowing, brush collection. His most recent assignment has been to pick up grass and leaf bags. Ted has always been a dependable employee who takes pride in his work, and that’s a fact,” McCullough said during the Wednesday, Sept. 6, Township Committee meeting.

Typically, he said, the township presents retirees after 30 years with a rocking chair. “But you’re not the kind of guy that’s going to sit around in a rocking chair,” he said. Instead, they gave him a gift certificate for four new tires for his van, “so you can get on the road and do what you really want to do.”
