EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP — The date has been set for the 18th annual Remembering Jamie Scholarship Dinner, an event that raises money for local students to continue their education in memory of a township resident who left her mark on the community.
The fundraiser will be held 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24 at the Egg Harbor Township Elks Lodge, 1815 Somers Point Road. It will feature an all-you-can-eat Italian buffet, according to an invitation.
The event honors Jamie Crescenzo, who died at age 20 in a head-on car crash on a snowy road Feb. 18, 2000.
Crescenzo was a student at Atlantic Cape Community College studying criminal justice who wanted to be an Atlantic City police officer. Shortly before the accident she has been accepted as a student at Stockton University.
Her family created the foundation as a way to not only remember Jamie, but to continue her legacy of helping the community.
Scholarships are awarded to students from Egg Harbor Township and Atlantic Cape, and for the last few years, Stockton students have also been eligible for funds.
Tickets are $13 for adults and $5 for children and can be purchased at the door. To buy tickets in advance send a check with the number of tickets needed to Remembering Jamie Foundation, P.O. Box 370, Somers Point, NJ 08244.
Proceeds go to the Remembering Jamie Foundation and the Jamie Crescenzo Memorial Scholarship Fund.
