Cape May County will hold its annual Earth Day Fair 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, April 22 at the Cape May County Park and Zoo.

More than just a day in the park, the event focuses on preserving Earth's natural resources through conservation, reuse, recycling and the promotion of "green" living.

The Cape May County Board of Chosen Freeholders has planned a long list of eco-friendly and educational events for children and adults, according to a press release.

The day will start off with a bang with a 5K Earth Day Race and 1 Mile Fun Run. Eco-friendly certificates will be awarded for the top three finishers in each age group in both male and female divisions.

The first 150 participants will receive T-shirts. The registration is $20 in advance and $25 the day of the race. Proceeds benefit the Cape May County Park and Zoo Trust Fund.

In addition to the race, there will be music, an interactive drum circle, and hands-on educational exhibits. Yoga, a performance of “Pollution, Reduction Conservation” by magician and juggler Ben Lipman, food and crafts are all on the agenda.

The Cape May County Park and Zoo is at 707 Route 9 North in Cape May Court House, Exit 11 off the Garden State Parkway.
