Margate has some new activities and attractions in store for its annual Fall Funfest by the Bay, set for Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 23-24 along six blocks of Amherst Avenue between Decatur and Coolidge avenues.

Daytime activities run 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. The fun will include amusement rides, live music, games, a drag race challenge, back-bay nature tours, educational exhibits, food trucks and restaurant vendors.

There will be a craft show featuring more than 65 juried artisans showing a variety of goods including wood designs, pottery, fall decor, culinary products and handmade jewelry.

John Bundy and Morgan will perform a magic and illusion show on the 95.1 WAYV kid's stage. 

The Margate Police Department will present the Dunk-a-Cop dunk tank, with proceeds benefiting Gilda’s Club of South Jersey. A character parade of pop-culture figures including Chewbacca, Belle, Spiderman and others, and there will be children’s gymnastics and yoga demonstrations.

Funfest After Dark will continue the fun 8-10 p.m. Saturday night. The adults-only event offers free live music by the Mas Tequila Orchestra, wine and spirits tastings and light finger foods.

Admission is $20. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Community FoodBank of New Jersey Southern Branch.

Steve & Cookie's 21st annual dog show will be part of the Funfest Sunday. Registration and pre-event activities begin 11:30 a.m. in the parking lot of Steve & Cookie's, and the dog show starts 1 p.m.

Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place. The theme this year is Halloween.

The entry fee is $20. Proceeds benefit the Humane Society of Ocean City and NJ Aid For Animals.

A free jitney will be will be available both days for festival goers, running from the parking area at the Eugene A. Tighe School at Essex and Amherst avenues to the drop-off areas at Coolidge and Decatur avenues.
