Twelve contestants will compete for the title of Miss Ocean City 2018 at the 49th annual Miss Ocean City Pageant Saturday, Aug. 12 at the Music Pier on Moorlyn Terrace and the Boardwalk.

The young women will vie in interview, talent, evening gown (poise) and swimsuit competitions and answer an onstage question with the hope of winning the crown.

The contestants are Sophia Terry, Brielle Nicole Hammerstein, Pamela Traflet, Shannon Cattie, Grace Webber, Alexa Rosen, Megan Jessica Keenan, Madison Leigh Kennelly, Nora Sheppard Faverzani, Abigail Waid, Emily Aita and Alanna Palombo.

Miss Ocean City 2017 McKayla Perry will crown her successor after a year of service. Miss Ocean City serves as an ambassador for the city at events such as the Night in Venice boat parade, the pamper scamper and baby parade, Wacky Wednesday activities and the Christmas parade.

Contestants must be between the ages of 16 and 23 and be either a year-round resident of Ocean City, an attendee or graduate of Ocean City High School, or the daughter of an Ocean City property owner.

Pageant supporters include crown-level sponsors Gillian's Wonderland Pier and Uncle Bill's Pancake House.
