OCEAN CITY — The Greater Ocean City Theatre Company will present "The Trial of Goldilocks" Tuesday, July 11 for one show only as the first of five family-friendly theatrical productions it will stage this summer at the Ocean City Music Pier.

This retelling of the fairy tale "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" is full of mirth and melody as the alleged trespasser is brought to court to face charges of breaking and entering the cottage of a family of bears, according to a press release. The courtroom scene unfolds with a rollicking re-enactment of the "crime" — with members of the jury playing the roles of tables, chairs, beds and forest animals. Guilty or innocent? Was Goldilocks a selfish, spoiled girl intruding where she didn't belong? Or was she the victim of three conniving bears and their animal "band of hoods" in the woods?

The verdict and the judge's creative sentencing bring the charming musical to a happily-ever-after conclusion, organizers said.

Show time is 10:30 a.m.

The Ocean City Theatre Company's Children’s Theatre Series will continue throughout the summer with  "Curious George: The Golden Meatball" July 18, "The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley" July 25 and "Stinkykids the Musical" Aug. 1.

All Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 the day of the show. For tickets call 609-399-6111 or see oceancityvacation.com/boxoffice.

The Children’s Series is made possible in part by a grant administered by the Cape May County Culture and Heritage Commission from funds granted by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
