MAYS LANDING – An Atlantic County man was shot dead Wednesday night, Nov. 30 in the Woodlands Condominiums, marking the second fatal shooting in Hamilton Township in less than a week, acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Diane Ruberton said.
The shooting occurred shortly before 6:30 p.m. in Ivy Bush Court. The victim, whose identity is being withheld, died from multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:51 p.m. by an AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center physician.
Hamilton Township police and Rescue Squad personnel, AtlantiCare paramedics, and detectives from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Hamilton police Detective Bureau are investigating.
The Woodlands is on the Black Horse Pike a few minutes' drive from the scene of a fatal shooting early Friday, Nov. 27 in the Hamilton Mall parking lot near Macy’s. Demond Cottman, 21, of Atlantic City was shot and killed, and his brother, Shadi Cottman, 26, of Clayton, was shot in the leg.
Jay McKeen, Prosecutor’s Office spokesman declined to provide further information or comment on whether or not the shootings are related.
