Galloway woman pulled from SUV in Hamilton crash

Firefighters pulled a Galloway woman to safety after the SUV she was in flipped over Thursday, Jan. 5.

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP – A Galloway woman was rescued from an overturned SUV after a morning crash on Wrangleboro Road Thursday, Jan. 5, police said.

It was nearly 8 a.m. when the Township of Hamilton Police Department responded to Wrangleboro Road just north of Alexander Drive for a report of a motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, officers discovered a vehicle located in the roadway on its rooftop with a female passenger trapped inside, police said.

The passenger, Naomi Castillo, 22, of Galloway, was extricated from the vehicle by fire and EMS personnel before being transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City for treatment, police said.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 1997 Ford Explorer driven by Dante Martin, 22, of Galloway was traveling north on Wrangleboro Road when it left the roadway and rolled over before striking a tree, coming to rest on its roof in the northbound lane.

The Galloway Township Police Department, Cologne Volunteer Fire Company, Laureldale Volunteer Fire Company, Hamilton Township Rescue Squad and AtlantiCare Paramedics assisted. 

The crash is under investigation by Officer Dennis Bakker of the Township of Hamilton Police Department.
