HAMILTON TOWNSHIP — Oakcrest High School choir director Richard T. Tinsley II was selected to conduct the 56th annual Region III All South Jersey Junior High Chorus Saturday, Jan. 27.

Students from all over the South Jersey area audition to be in the junior and senior chorus.

The junior high chorus is made up of seventh-, eighth- and ninth-graders, and the senior high chorus consists of 10th- through 12th-graders. More than 150 students were selected in each group. Oakcrest High School had five students participating in the event.

"It is an honor to be selected to conduct this chorus. I'm so excited to start yet another musical journey and perform with these fabulous student musicians," Tinsley said.

He said the rehearsals were fantastic and that it was amazing to see the students learn the music in such a short amount of time.

Tinsley said he takes great pride in this event because when he was in high school, he was in the chorus.

"Life has come full circle," he said.

Tinsley said after the concert that the students did a great job with the challenging music.
