HAMILTON TOWNSHIP — The Planning Board approved an application Thursday, Feb. 1 for Outback Steakhouse to build a restaurant on the site of the former Volcanic Eruptions on the Black Horse Pike.

Despite the project needing 22 variances, approval of the the preliminary and final site plans was unanimous.

“It was a very thorough process,” Hamilton Township Director of Community Development Phil Sartorio said. “Members of the board asked a lot of questions, and in the end they were satisfied with the answers.”

According to township engineer Steven Filippone, the restaurant will be 6,700 square feet and have seating for 240 people. The parking lot will have 111 parking spaces.

Company representatives at the meeting said they plan to open the restaurant by the end of the year.
