Greyhound races at Convention Hall in the summer of 1934 featured a monkey race every Wednesday until the state banned the practice.
The Atlantic Kennel Club rented the air-conditioned Atlantic City Convention Hall for $165,000 for the summer of 1934 to conduct greyhound races, complete with pari-mutuel wagering. The races were set from June 8 through Sept. 9 with seating for up to 10,000 fans.
Atlantic County residents age 60 and older are encouraged to enter original pieces of artwork in the 39th annual Atlantic County Senior Citizens Art Show for professional and non-professional artists.
