SOMERS POINT – The Gateway Playhouse opened its doors last month in grand style after years of fundraising, planning and construction to rave reviews for Andrea McArdle and the Shaken Not Stirred Players. But the excitement is rolling forward with a full schedule of fall events. Make plans to tap into the excitement that is back in Somers Point with the rebirth of the Gateway Playhouse. The Theater Collaborative of South Jersey is not sitting on their laurels after the opening. Instead Jim Dalfonso, Keith Cooper and volunteers and members of the Gateway board of directors have woven together a great tapestry of entertainment through the end of the year.
September 22-24 and September 29 - October 1 – She Loves Me
The Shaken Not Stirred Players present She Loves Me, an award-winning adaptation of the play “Parfumerie” by Hungarian playwright Miklos Laszlo. The inspiration for the motion pictures “The Shop Around the Corner in 1940 and “You’ve Got Mail” in 1998, the musical tells the story of shop employees Georg Nowack and Amalia Balash, who butt heads at work, while unwittingly falling in love with each other through their lonely hearts correspondence.
When Miss New Jersey Kaitlyn Schoeffel was crowned, dozens of people rushed the stage to congratulate her. From the wings of the stage, hostess Kay Aspell experienced seeing her third hosted contestant walk to the runway and take that next step to Boardwalk Hall.
October 7-8 – Marvin & Me
Valerie Lemon brings her vocal talent to the Gateway stage. Lemon performed as a concert soloist with the legendary Marvin Hamlisch for 12 years. Her engaging tribute, “Marvin & Me”, is filled with stories of their travels on the road, as well as many of the inimitable songs that earned Hamlisch a Tony Award and multiple Emmy, Grammy, and Oscar Awards.
October 12-15 – South Jersey Jazz Society’s Jazz @ The Point
The South Jersey Jazz Society celebrates this uniquely American art form promoting a love and appreciation of jazz. The annual three-day event sponsored by OceanFirst Bank, Jazz @ The Point allows the nonprofit South Jersey Jazz Society to support the music and arts programs in the Ocean City and Somers Point school systems.

October 21 – The Medium
Just in time for Halloween, Nancy Fox Operafest International presents an eerie opera by Gian Carlo Menotti. In “The Medium”, this two-act opera, a fake psychic becomes unhinged when one of her sham séances appears to have actually worked.
October 26-27 – Shade
Filled with sarcasm, humor, attitude, drama and excitement, this new play by Payneless Publishings addresses the judgments we make based on appearances. Five co-workers judge and throw “Shade” at each other in this provocative follow-up to Payneless Publishings’ “Beautiful Lies.”

November 3-5 and 10-12 – Our Town
Fool Moon Productions presents the classic American play by Thornton Wilder. Written in 1938, “Our Town breaks the fourth wall as it examines the everyday lives of George Gibbs, Emily Webb, and the other citizens of the fictional town of Grover’s Corners between 1901 and 1913.
December 8-10 and 15-17 – Home for the Holidays
The Shaken Not Stirred Players invite audience members to an intimate Yuletide gathering; complete with warm banter and nostalgic holiday tunes.
