Greate Bay welcomes Chef Uli

Ulrich Lohs is the new executive chef at Greate Bay Country Club in Somers Point.

Chef Ulrich Lohs recently joined the culinary team at Greate Bay Country Club in Somers Point.

Lohs, who lives in Egg Harbor Township, has more than 35 years' experience in fine dining, banquet and high-volume restaurants in Atlantic City and Canada, according to a press release.

“Chef Uli is a local legend,” Greate Bay executive chef Jack Whelan said. “His experience across the culinary spectrum and his ability to deliver delicious, high-quality menu choices makes him a valuable addition to our restaurant and catering operations.”

Lohs was executive chef at the original Golden Nugget, which later became the Hilton the Atlantic Club, for 34 years, where he managed 10 restaurants including the five-star Peregrine’s, a three-time winner of the Distinguished Restaurants of North America Award. He is a member of the American Culinary Federation and has received numerous awards including the Professional Chef’s Association chef of the year.

Lohs said creativity with food is his passion and that he looks forward to bringing enthusiasm and culinary knowledge to Greate Bay Country Club and Greate Bay at Ocean City Yacht Club.
