AVALON – The Avalon Garden Club, a non-profit agency that promotes the beautification of Avalon, has planned several events this summer as fundraisers.
Friday, April 28 – An Arbor Day ceremony and honey locust planting 10:30 a.m. on the 66th-67th streets island, across from Judy Groff Community Center.
Friday, May 5 – A plant sale from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Avalon Community Hall featuring a selection of perennials and annuals.
Saturday, May 6 – A plant sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Avalon Community Hall featuring a selection of perennials and annuals.
Wednesday, May 13 – The 23rd annual borough-wide yard sale. Download an applications from www.avalonboro.net, pick one up from Avalon Community Hall, or call 609-967-3009. Fee $10. Proceeds benefit borough beautification projects by the club.
Wednesday, May 24 – The annual fashion show and luncheon is planned at the Avalon Yacht Club. Tickets $40. Doors open 11:30 a.m. and feature fashions by Bellanova of Stone Harbor. For more information call 610-256-2995.
Saturday, June 10 – The 35th annual flower show at Avalon Community Center, 31st and the beach, is open from noon to 4 p.m. Admission is free.
