Hospital officials said that Righter was nominated by the family of a patient who was under her care in the intensive care unit at the medical center.
“Beverly had a calm and reassuring presence that made us, and most importantly my brother, feel safe,” a family member wrote in the nomination letter. “She assured us that my brother was in good hands, and boy was she right.
“Beverly's attention to detail ensured his road to recovery. I am forever grateful.”
Righter graduated from Cumberland County College's nursing program and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree. She is married and has two children.
“Receiving the DAISY award makes me feel good in knowing my patients feel I provide exceptional care, as that is what I strive for,” said in a statement. “I took care of this patient for three days, working really hard to bring his spirits up, I'm happy to see my persistence paid off and he and his family were happy with my care.”
