Coach Brian Hindle and the Lower Cape May Regional High School Caper

Tigers have high hopes for senior quarterback Brennan Ray, a 6-foot-3,

175-pounder.

“He returns for his second season as our starter and captain,” Hindle

said of Ray, who was a second-team West Jersey Football League

selection  last year.

“He’s a tremendous player, person and leader. He’s been in contact

with approximately 10 different college teams.”

The Caper Tigers are a veteran group, having lost only three starters

from last season. Hindle is optimistic about where the program is

headed.

“We have about 60 players now,” he said. “We had an average attendance

of about 85 percent at our off-season camps. Our goal is to be in

every game this season.”

Hindle’s team has depth in the trenches, and the Caper Tigers will use

that to good effect.

“This year, we are afforded the opportunity to play our offensive and

defensive lines only one way, with many rotational players up front,”

he said. “That should be a strength.”

Senior running backs Aaron Cottrell, Jake Robb and Tony Kapurleos will

share carries, while Ray will look to target wideouts Dominic Bowman,

a senior, and juniors Matthew Jerreris and Khoury Causey in the air.

Hindle says success can only come from the players’ commitment to each other.

“We preach brotherhood,” he said. “Play hard for yourself, but even

more so for the player standing next to you.”

In that mode, Hindle has the Caper Tigers representing themselves in a

proud manner both on and off the field.

“One night this summer, our varsity starters volunteered to coach the

Lower Township football program,” he said. “Our players know they are

members of more than just a football team -- they’re part of the

community.”
