MIDDLE TOWNSHIP — A Burleigh man has been charged with stealing an ATM in May from the Court House Diner, police said Wednesday.

Gregory Lazicki, 27, was also charged with burglary and criminal mischief.

Police received a report of a burglary May 27 at the diner on North Main Street in Cape May Court House.

Investigators said that between 11 p.m. May 26 and 6:45 a.m. May 27, phone, cable and internet lines were cut on the north side of the building.

The lock on the north lobby door, along Stone Harbor Boulevard, was removed, and Lazicki entered the lobby and stole the machine, which contained about $4,000, police said.

Lazicki then dragged the ATM on the sidewalk along the north side of the building to the last parking space facing the building, near the trash bin, police said. Authorities believe the ATM was then loaded into a vehicle and removed from the scene.

Police said they developed leads that led to the arrest of Lazicki, who was served Oct. 3 at the county jail, where he was being held on unrelated charges.

Lazicki is the only suspect in the ATM theft, Capt. William Adams said.
